Thota offers to play peacemaker

February 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - KAKINADA:

Offering his voluntary service to have a dialogue with Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham over the issue of listing the Kapus into the Backward Classes, Kakinada MP Thota Narasimham on Wednesday felt that releasing orders in haste about the listing would not be of any use to the community, as the issue required a detailed discussion with different stakeholders before finding an amicable solution to it.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Narasimham faulted the leaders of Kapu Aikya Garjana for taking instant decision to launch road roko and rail roko and entering into action.

“I am wondering why Mr. Padmanabham has taken a unilateral decision without taking the Kapu leaders on the dais into confidence. It was not correct to give a call to launch agitation on the spot,” he said.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the outcome of the public meeting, Mr. Narasimham said that as a representative of Kapu community he had expected the meeting would render something good to the community. “But, the reality is quite contrary to my expectation. Some forces are trying to get political mileage from the aftermath of the meeting. I request all the Kapus to be awakened,” he said. Showering praises on the State government for establishing Kapu Corporation, Mr. Narasimham exuded confidence that the government would include Kapus in the BCs list.
