Union Minister for Tourism K. Chiranjeevi on Saturday evening almost moved the audience at a film function, when he expressed his concern and shock at the rape of a five-year-old that was recently reported in New Delhi.

“It is saddening that even as the memory of ‘Nirbhaya’ is still fresh in our minds, such a ghastly incident took place. Let us pray for the girl’s speedy recovery, delivery of justice and express our solidarity with the little one,” he said, in an emotion-filled voice. Even before Mr. Chiranjeevi could complete his request of a two-minute silence as a gesture of support, the entire gathering in a packed Shilpa Kala Vedika stood up, proclaiming to the world that they were there.
