TDP President N.Chandrababu Naidu receives a miniature ‘bicycle’ (party symbol) presented by party leaders at Srikalahasti town in Chittoor district on Wednesday, en route Nellore for the ‘Praja Garjana’.

Asserting that their party was strong in Telangana and Seemandhra, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu said that there was a historical necessity for bringing their party to power so as to ensure progress of the Telugu people in both states.

Sounding poll bugle at the ‘Praja Garjana’ public meeting held here on Wednesday night, Mr. Naidu accused the Congress leadership of hurting the Telugu pride by dividing Andhra Pradesh.

Cong. leaders join TDP

Former minister and Congress MLA Adala Prabhakar Reddy, who is said to be the TDP candidate for Nellore Lok Sabha seat, joined the party in the presence of Mr. Naidu.

Nellore Rural MLA Mungamuru Sridhar Krishna Reddy, former MLA Polamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy and scores of Congress leaders also came into the TDP fold.

Staff Reporter adds: Mr. Naidu formally kick-started the campaign for the municipal, Assembly and Lok Sabha polls at Srikalahasti. He was supposed to launch the campaign at Nellore, but had to yield to the pressure from local party leaders led by legislator and former Minister B. Gopalakrishna Reddy.

Addressing a meeting, he said that his public address, the first after the issue of notification, was deemed to be the launch of campaign at the holy feet of Lord Shiva.

Recalling the erstwhile TDP regime when Hyderabad was placed on the global IT map, he said it was imperative for the TDP to take the reins of both the Telugu States once again, in order to build them from scratch. The feeling of insecurity among the Seemandhra people and the cynicism among the jobless youth could be addressed only by the TDP.
