Congress leaders from Telangana on Tuesday said it was the commitment of AICC president Sonia Gandhi that the 60-year-old aspiration of people has been fulfilled.
Soon after the passage of the historic AP Reorganisation Bill, Congress Ministers and elected representatives from the region were all praise for the party chief for his promise that a separate State of Telangana could be created at any cost.
Panchayat Raj Minister K. Jana Reddy said the perseverance of the people of Telangana had paid as their dreams had ultimately been fulfilled by the creation of the 29th State in the country. Former PCC president D. Srinivas thanked Ms. Gandhi and the BJP for enabling the passage of the Bill.
Independence day
Others Ministers, Ponnala Lakshmaiah said it was an independence day for the people of Telangana while D.K.Aruna said constitutional practices had been followed in the creation of a separate State.
Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare K. Sunitha Laxma Reddy said despite the conspiracies and attempt to derail the bifurcation process the Bill was ultimately passed in Lok Sabha. Minister for Housing N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said people cannot forget the sacrifices made by the youth and students in achieving Telangana.
All the Congress leaders expressed their gratitude to the people of the region for waiting patiently for their ultimate goal to be achieved.
Deputy Chief Whip in Lok Sabha Madhu Yaskhi Goud said people of Telangana were now free from the shackles of Seemandhra rulers. “Let us now look forward for a new beginning and develop our own Telangana State,” he said.
Telangana Congress Monitoring Group organiser G. Niranjan said Ms. Sonia Gandhi had become goddess in the eyes of Telangana people.
