The Joint Action Committee of Telangana Employees, Gazetted Officers, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners (TE-JAC) has resolved to agitate against the government not fulfilling promises made during the 42-day general strike.

Lunch hour protests

The struggle will start with lunch hour demonstrations on May 3 before all government offices, said K. Swamy Goud, TE-JAC chairman, after a meeting here on Monday. He said despite several assurances about implementing the 10 Pay Revision Commission, the government did not appear to be keen on going ahead.

Other demands included announcing pending dearness allowance from January 1, 2012 and paying arrears in cash and withdrawal of all criminal cases filed against employees during the general strike.

He said they would not remain silent to injustice and that they would go on another indefinite strike.

The renewed protest would start in the form of lunch-hour demonstrations on May 3 and later, after the process of by-elections was concluded, they would meet again to chalk out their action plan, going forward, he added.

Representatives of 70 associations working for the interests of different categories of government servants in the region were present at the meeting attended by leaders including TE-JAC secretary-general V. Srinivas Goud, co-chairmen G. Devi Prasad Rao and C. Vittal.

Referring to the strike period, they said the government was now considering it as earned leave, instead of treating it as special casual leave, as agreed earlier.

He sought cancellation of all deputations and sending the officials concerned back to their native departments and regularisation of all contract/contingent employees.

Mr. Srinivas Goud and others alleged that the employees who had participated in the Telangana agitation were being subjected to discrimination and harassment.

He said several promotions and retirement process of employees were stalled by the government and several outsourced employees being removed.
