Responding to the long-pending demands of the teachers, Principal Secretary of School Education Department Adityanath Das and Commissioner K. Sandhya Rani have assured leaders of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Organsiation (FAPTO) that they would immediately address some of the issues.

The two officials, who met the teachers’ representatives at the Secretariat, agreed to issue orders approving notional increments to special teachers and upgradation of subject pundits and PETs within 10 days.

Non-teaching duties

They said promotions would be given after securing the nod of the tribunal on service rules and they would discuss with the government filling up 23,000 posts through DSC. Responding to the other demands, Mr. Das said orders on inter-district transfers would be released in a week. They would also ensure that teachers were not asked to carry out non-teaching duties, reduce the number of apps introduced for smooth functioning of the administration and would immediately give promotions to deserving candidates in aided schools.

The FAPTO leaders said based on their assurances, they would temporarily stop the agitation but revive it if the order was not released within the promised 10 days.

The FAPTO team which met the officials included Federation chairman P. Babu Reddy, secretary general G. Hrudayaraju, co-chairmen G. Nageswara Rao, Panduranga Varaprasad, P. Krishnaiah and G. Janardhana Reddy and treasurer Shoury R.
