Telugu Desam Party legislators from Telangana on Friday said that they were ready to quit their posts in a bid to step up pressure on the Centre for creation of a separate State.

The TDP Telangana legislators will meet here on Saturday and finalise their action plan, according to Telangana TDP Forum convenor Erraballi Dayakar Rao.

“We are ready to quit our posts. We will take a pledge at the martyrs’ memorial here on July 4 and submit our resignations to the Assembly Speaker,” Mr. Dayakar Rao said even as Congress legislators from the region too expressed their readiness to resign from their posts.

The TDP currently has 36 MLAs from Telangana. It is, however, not clear if the three party MPs from the region too would resign.

The MPs’ resignation issue would be decided at the Telangana TDP Forum meeting tomorrow, party sources said.
