Mahanadu, the annual conclave of the Telugu Desam Party, on Saturday adopted a resolution urging the Central government to release funds for the development of the Telugu States — Andhra Pradesh and Telangana — and other states as well.
It urged the Centre to implement the policy decisions regarding the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act at the earliest.
Call to Telangana govt.
The TDP, on its first day of Mahanadu, adopted another resolution urging the Telangana government to implement its electoral promises.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao always asserted that the election manifesto was like the Bhagavad Gita for him. But, in reality, he hardly honoured and gave credence to it. Setting up of the State Advisory Council, filling of vacant posts — 2.54 lakh as per the Finance Department and 1.07 lakh as per the government statement in Assembly, fee reimbursement, irrigation water to one lakh acres in every Assembly constituency and debt waiver were a few electoral promises.
Above all, Mr. Rao promised that a Dalit would be made the first Chief Minister of Telangana. Not a single woman was inducted into his Cabinet, the TDP pointed out in its resolution urging the KCR government to implement the manifesto.
Outlining the details of the implementation of the manifesto, the party’s A.P. leader Dhulipala Narendra said 153 promises made had been fulfilled. Another 29 schemes were introduced though they did not form part of the manifesto. A resolution was adopted urging the people and party members to continue extending cooperation to the TDP. The party also thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who recently received ‘Transformative Adminster’ award, for his tireless efforts in transforming the State. It adopted another resolution on ‘TDP-revolutionary changes in socio, economic and political arena’.
