TDP rebel files nomination for MLC seats

Former Yelamanchili MLA Uppalapati Venkata Ramanamurty Raju alias Kanna Babu filed his nomination for the Legislative Council for both the seats under local bodies constituency.

Filing his nomination papers for both the seats from Visakhapatnam District, Kanna Babu, who had joined the Telugu Desam Party before 2014 General Elections, said that he was doing so because the Telugu Desam Party which had promised him to nominate him as the candidate in first MLC elections to be conducted after it came to power, but had gone back on the promise.

Worse, the Telugu Desam had failed to give him a reason why he was not considered. He said that if the party leadership gave him a proper reason he would then discuss with his supporters and might consider withdrawing from the contest.

The former MLA filed his papers with Returning Officer and Joint Collector J. Nivas at the Collectorate here on Monday.
