The ruling Telugu Desam Party has finally got its act together by retaining the candidatures of Tenali Sravan Kumar (Tadikonda SC) Assembly segment and Annam Satish Prabhakar (Bapatla), while announcing a new candidate, Aravind Babu, for the prestigious Narsaraopet segment as it has finalized the names of candidates for all 17 Assembly segments in the district.

After days of dramatic developments over the selection of candidates in key segments like Tadikonda and Narsaraopet, the TDP has decided to go with the sitting MLAs/constituency in-charges.

Mr. Sravan Kumar, who is facing rebel trouble in the Tadikonda (SC) segment, will now take on Undavalli Sridevi of the YSRCP, who is making her debut in the elections. Mr. Sravan has been facing some serious rebel trouble in his segment after ZP vice-chairperson Vadlamudi Purnachandra Rao raised a banner of revolt. The TDP has almost decided to change Mr. Sravan and bring in Sriram Malyadri , MP, from Bapatla but decided to retain Mr. Sravan.

In Bapatla, Annam Satish Prabhakar, who lost to Kona Raghupati by a margin of 5,000 votes in 2014 elections, will try his luck again, while two debutants orthopaedician Aravind Babu from Narsaraopet and Anji Reddy will test waters for the first time in Macherla.

Earlier, there was a drama in Guntur too with Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, declaring that he would step aside for his son, Rayapati Ranga Rao, if the latter gets nod for Guntur West Assembly segment. But the proposal was shot down by MP Galla Jayadev, who reiterated that Maddali Giri will contest in Guntur West.
