Taking exception to the statements of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders B.Y. Ramaiah and Chakrapani Reddy against Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district president Somisetty Venkateswarlu said that the duo had no moral right to blame Mr. Krishnamurthy who has done so much for the development of Kurnool district.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Mr. Venkateswarlu said it was a matter of pride that a BC leader has become Deputy CM, but the YSRCP seems to be bent upon discrediting him.

“If they are so concerned about the district, they could have at least approached Mr. Krishnamurthy with a representation stating the requirements. People are bigger than any political party and we have to work together for their welfare,” he asserted.

Instead of making baseless allegations, Mr. Venkateswarlu urged the YSRCP leaders to accompany them on a tour of the district, so that they can see for themselves the development across the region. People were not ready to believe turncoats, who are entirely focused on staying afloat in their political careers.

The TDP government had always considered the BC community as the backbone of their party, adding Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had rolled out several schemes aimed at their welfare. “In contrast, YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is quite suppressive of the BC community and we challenge those making misleading statements to contest from a seat under the BC quota, and win,” he added. MLC K.E. Prabhakar outlined the developmental activities in the district, both completed and ongoing, and urged the YSRCP leaders to undertake a tour with extensive coverage from the media.
