TDP flays Jagan’s protest

October 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has accused YSRC president and Opposition Leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy of trying to scuttle the development of the international airport at Bhogapuram to protect his real estate interests.

TDP president K. Kala Venkata Rao said over 1,000 acres in the proposed 5,300 acres were in the possession of three individuals including Mr. Jagan, who owned 125 acres. “The extent of lands owned by the Opposition Leader could be gauged from the fact that the Enforcement Directorate had attached 125 acres belonging to Mr. Jagan near the proposed airport,” he added.

“Mr. Jagan should come clear on the extent of land he owns in Bhogapuram and surrounding areas in benami,” he said, adding that the protest planned by the Opposition Leader exposed his “immaturity” and hunger for power.

Mr. Rao said the government planned an international airport at Bhogapuram, as it would kick-start development in Vizianagaram district. The government had ensured payment of Rs. 24 lakh to farmers and another Rs. 12 lakh to those who own patta lands.
