Task Force officials injured in raid

Two officials were injured during a clash between red sanders woodcutters and Task Force in the Seshachalam forests on Saturday. Five woodcutters were arrested, with the seizure of 15 red sanders logs.

According to sources, during a raid in Jerribanda area of Chandragiri mandal, the Task Force officials came face to face with 20 woodcutters, who were busy transporting red sanders logs from the forest. Taken aback by the sudden confrontation, woodcutters began pelting stones on the officials, injuring two of them. The task force officials opened a round of fire in self defence and the woodcutters fled from the spot. However, the officials managed to nab five of them and seized 15 red sanders logs, with an estimated market value of Rs.60 lakh.

No causalities have been reported by the officials.
