Alleged tampering of land records in the Chinnaganjam and other neighbouring mandal offices in Prakasam district has become a concern for farmers and landowners, amid the fear of faulty computerisation of these records.
Though the pattadar pass books and title deeds tell clearly about the true ownership of the lands over the decades, the same is not being honoured by the officials concerned while uploading the records on to the government website. They are stated to have given lame excuses of the said lands being taken by the government under some programme . But under such circumstances, formal acquisition of land is taken up by competent authorities at the district level.
Some VROS allegedly have manipulated the records by including handwritten entries seven to eight years ago and this is being cited as the reason by the officials who deny uploading the said documents .
Farmers in Pedaganjam have brought the issue to the notice of the Collector and Ongole Revenue Divisional Officer seeking rectification of the records. They also demanded an enquiry by the top officials into the tampering of records allegedly done by some VROs in Chinnagangam mandal office. The ryots termed the handwritten entries illegal and sought that those be deleted from the records .
