Peddapalli Inspector P Prashanth Reddy said Edula Santosh Reddy (15), native of Abbapur village in Dharmaram mandal, was studying in tenth class in Brilliant Model School in Julapalli mandal headquarters. On Wednesday, the school correspondent Satyam had reportedly asked all the students, who had not paid the school fee, to stand up. When several students stood up, Santosh was sitting.

At this juncture, the school correspondent had identified him and asked him to stand up along with seven other students, who had not paid the fee. Later, all the students were asked to stand outside the classroom for half an hour and warned that they would not be allowed to write their quarterly examination scheduled from October 3.

Santosh had come home for lunch. Taking the cellular phone of his cousin, who resided in the neighbourhood, he had recorded his statement on the mobile phone that he had been humiliated in the school due to non-payment of fee.

He had stated that he would leave this world as he was unable to study due to poverty and left the phone in the house and also a letter mentioning his video recording.

During the period, his father Srinivas Reddy had returned from the field and asked his son why he was going to school early. But, he had not told his father about the school fee issue. He had arrived at Julapalli and from there to Peddapalli railway station in an autorickshaw.

He committed suicide by throwing himself under a moving train on Wednesday night.

The railway police kept the body at mortuary as unidentified . In the meantime, parents of the boy lodged a missing complaint with the Dharmaram police. Later, in the house, they chanced upon the letter written by Satosh.

They alerted the police after watching the video.

The parents identified the body on Friday and took it to their village. The police registered a case under IPC 306 section and also a criminal case against the school management.
