Stop land acquisition for airport: YSRC

May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - VISAKHPATNAM:

There was no need to acquire 15,000 acres to build a Greenfield international airport at Bhogapuram at the cost of farmers, YSR Congress State official spokesman Koyya Prasada Reddy said here on Saturday.

The Chandrababu Naidu government should stop the process since it was facing criticism for acquiring 33,000 acres for building the State capital, Mr. Prasada Reddy said at a press conference.

Agriculture lands were being acquired at Bhogapuram and the farmers were opposing it and were being supported by all parties including the local TDP leaders, Mr Prasada Reddy said.

Mr. Naidu, who came to power with the promises made to the farmers, welfare activities and jobs to all had forgotten them all while his Ministers were steeped in corruption.

The YSRC leader also questioned how the Chief Minister’s son Lokesh could seek foreign investments during a foreign tour he was going to undertake soon.
