Rajahmundry MP M. Murali Mohan on Monday appealed to nursery farmers to make use of the outcome of research in floriculture which would help them reduce input costs and increase their profits.
Addressing a meeting after laying the foundation stone for a regional research station of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research’s Directorate of Floriculture Research at Vemagiri, he said the station would be developed at a cost of ₹5 crore in an extent of 11 acres. It would help nursery farmers on various issues ranging from selection of new varieties to addressing challenges such as pests in nurseries.
Observing that more marketing avenues would be opened for nursery farmers, the MP promised full support from the government’s side such as opening cold storage facilities.
