The Left parties have charged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu led government with adopting ‘anti-worker policies’ that were detrimental to interests of the working class.
The State government’s support to the managements, setting aside the interests of workers, was evident from the comments of the Chief Minister during the recent meeting of industrialists in Visakhapatnam where he reportedly wanted the managements to deal sternly with the trade unions. The Chief Minister made some objectionable comments against the trade unions during the meeting and went ahead to claim that it was his government’s policy towards the trade unions, CPI (M) State secretary P. Madhu, his CPI counterpart K. Ramakrishna and other Left leaders said. “Mr. Naidu has supported the managements which refused to implement labour laws,” Mr. Madhu said. He expressed concern that several workers were being removed from their jobs on the pretext that they were involved in union activities.
