Minister for Endowments and in-charge of Srikakulam Velampalli Srinivasa Rao and Minister for R&B Dharmana Krishnadas on Tuesday said that the State government was keen to conduct State-level tournaments for all games in a phased manner. They formally launched CM Volleyball Cup in Srikkaulam in a colourful manner. As many as 350 players of all 13 districts have come to Srikakulam to participate in the event which would continue till Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that sports quota would enable youngsters get jobs quickly. Mr. Krishnadas urged all schools and colleges to promote sports and games to ensure fitness for the youngsters. Srikakulam MLA Dharmana Prasada Rao, District Collector J. Nivas, B.R.Ambedkar University Vice-Chancellor Kuna Ramjee, SETSRI CEO VVRS Murthy, Srikakulam District Sports Officer B. Srinivasa Kumar and other were present. Earlier, the Ministers formally inaugurated stadium in Santinagar Colony. They said that the stadium constructed at a cost of ₹2 crore would help in promoting sports and games in a big way. They assured to complete KR Stadium’s reconstruction within one year.
