Taking the agreement reached in the past to a logical conclusion, the Andhra Pradesh government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ohio State, envisaging fee concession to the students of the State studying in that university.

Minister for Human Resource Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao and his team met Ohio State Education Minister John Carey at his office in Columbus on Tuesday and entered into the pact that would benefit thousands of AP students who join the university every year to pursue higher education.

Under the agreement, students who get admission in the university can save from ₹8.5 lakh to ₹20 lakh in the undergraduate and graduate programmes. The Minister said about 4,000 students migrated to the U.S. every year seeking admission in the university.

Immediate effect

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the agreement would come into force immediately and students would be eligible for the benefit from the next quarter in January (2018). The Minister said efforts were on to reach similar understandings with universities in other countries such as China, the UK and Australia.
