Three cities in A.P. figured among the top-10 Swachh Survekshan - 2018 rankings. With a score of 3580.24, Vijayawada stood in the 5th position followed by Tirupati and Visakhapatnam with scores of 3575.8 and 3546.5 respectively.

Mysore, Navi Mumbai and Pune secured the 8th, 9th and 10th ranks.

Cleanliness index

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana said in a release the State got 19 ranks among 200 clean cities and 31 among 300 cities. Ongole and Chittoor stood in the 83rd and 95th positions. Vijayawada earned the distinction of being the cleanest city in more than 10-lakh population category and Tirupati best in SWM in 3 lakh+ category.

The Minister said focus was laid on road-widening, beautification of public space, construction of public toilets and SWM as part of the efforts to make the cities compete with the best and he was happy that they lived up to the expectations.
