Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) Director Himanshu Shukla on Tuesday said the subsidies and the series of other facilities extended by the government had transformed the State into an investor’s paradise and firms that wanted to make their presence felt in Amaravati should make use of the opportunities.

Mr. Shukla was interacting with representatives of Japan-based Hotel Management International (HMI) at his office. The HMI delegation that met him comprised its Managing Director Ryuko Hira, Senior Director P. R. Khemchand, chief architect A. Jamesh Miller and Director Ujirihalu.

The HMI has over 100 hotels in Japan and the company representatives are keen on investing in the State Tourism sector.

Explaining to them the current scenario, Mr. Shukla said out of the five tourism hubs the State was divided into, the Madhurawada region of Visakhapatnam had been attracting huge investments.

Mr. Shukla said the government was willing to go an extra mile to attract major projects to the State.

Action plans

The Tourism wing had action plans ready to groom the INS Viraat in Visakhapatnam, world’s longest serving warship decommissioned by the Indian Navy and now all set to get a new avatar of a museum, the Havelock, the decommissioned bridge which spans the Godavari river in Rajamahendravanam and the Bhavani Island in the Krishna river in Vijayawada, which would soon be linked with seven other islands in the vicinity.

Mr. Shukla said the long coastline was a boon for Andhra Pradesh and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was willing to extend all facilities sought by the investors.

He said uninterrupted and subsidised power supply and single-window clearance of the permissions needed to set up a unit were mainly attracting investors.

Responding to Mr. Shukla’s presentation, Mr. Hira said he was interested in making an investment in Andhra Pradesh but currently he was in the process of figuring out a suitable sector to invest in.
