Jawan T. Ramakrishna Reddy, who was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, was laid to rest in his native Obulapuram village, near Giddalur in Prakasam district on Saturday.

He is survived by his parents and a sister.

Giddalur MLA M. Ashok Reddy, District Collector V. Vinay Chand and Superintendent of Police B. Satya Yesu Babu joined a large number of people, including ex-servicemen, who attended the funeral held with full military honours.

Mourning the death of the 21-year-old, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh to the family of the deceased soldier.

The district administration would provide 300 square yards of land to the next of kin of the soldier and a job to a family member, the Collector announced after paying his last respects.
