Six labourers killed in Guntur quarry mishap

At least six labourers were crushed to death and two others suffered injuries when boulders fell on them in a quarry at Phirangipuram village in the district on Saturday.

The deceased were natives of Krishna and Guntur districts. The injured were rushed to Government General Hospital (GGH), Guntur, and the condition of one of them is stated to be critical.

Locals staged dharna at the quarry alleging that the mishap occurred due to the negligence of the management. District Collector Kona Sasidhar, Superintendent of Police Narayana Naik and other officials rushed to the spot. Officials are trying to retrieve the bodies.
