Six arrested, coloured stones seized

The Forest Department officials of Chintapalli on Tuesday night arrested six persons, while they were illegally excavating semi- precious coloured stones on Kalinga Konda (Siginapalli Konda). The officials seized 21 coloured stones (7.600 grams) and two crowbars from the persons.

The persons were identified as Chandanada Nooka Raju, (40) of Chintapalli, K. Rajubabu, (24), D. Venkatesh (48) of GK Veedhi, V. Samuel, (26), K. Chandara Rao and (35), K. Kalyan Rao (38) of GK Veedhi mandal

According to the forest officials, while they were conducting patrolling near Bointi Reserve Forest region, they found the persons and brought them to Forest Range Office Chintapalli for further inquiry.

This was the second such suspected incident in the last one week. As per the forest officials, on July 18, during a routine patrolling, the forest range officials spotted a group of persons moving in the forest region. Noticing them the persons fled from the area, where the forest officials recovered a countymade gun, bow-arrows and other tools.
