The government on Wednesday appointed Justice B. Siva Sankara Rao as head of Judicial Preview Committee.

The government consulted the High Court Acting Chief Justice in this regard. Following his recommendation, Mr. Justice Siva Sankara Rao was appointed in accordance with the State Infrastructure (Transparency through Judicial Preview) Act 2019. The term of office would be for three years from the date of assuming office and a GO was issued to this effect. The Assembly recently passed the Act that allowed a judicial commission to review all projects valued at ₹100 crore and above before inviting tenders, by voice vote.

As per its provisions, a sitting or retired HC Judge will head the commission. The government will submit all documents to the commission. The commission will then place tender-related documents in public domain for a week and invite suggestions. The modifications suggested by the Judge will be binding on the government. As many as 25 sectors, PPPs, could be considered for judicial preview.

Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that the government would constitute the Judicial Commission on the day he took oath in May.
