‘Sister State’: AP team holds talks with Toyama Prefecture

The three-member delegation from Andhra Pradesh, which is currently on a visit to Japan, held discussions with the Toyama Prefectural Government on Friday on the proposed ‘Sister State’ MoU proposed to be signed between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Toyama Prefecture.

The pact will facilitate exchange of technology, technical assistance from Toyoma, known for its ports, and pharma industries. The delegation comprising K. Rama Mohan Rao (Special Representative of the State government in Delhi), P.V. Ramesh (Principal Finance Secretary) and Shamsher Singh Rawat (Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department) visited Toyama, the headquarters of the Toyama Prefecture.

Prefecture Governor Takakazu Ishii, Director General of Tourism and Regional Promotion Bureau Arihiro Urushibata and Director General of Commerce, Industry and Labour Department Shoichi Otsubo of Toyama Prefecture and India’s Ambassador to Japan Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa were also present.

Conveying his greetings to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Mr. Takakazu Ishii said that the proposed “Sister State” MoU would further strengthen the ties between India and Japan, boosting people-to-people exchanges.

Mr. Rao said that there could be synergies between AP and Toyama in many areas including tourism, pharma, manufacturing and food processing. He invited the Governor of Toyama, on behalf of the Chief Minister, to attend the foundation laying ceremony of Amaravati.
