Seven pilgrims die as car rams house

Seven pilgrims from Baramathi in Pune who were bound for Tirumala were killed when the SUV in which they were travelling lost control and rammed a house of one Subbarayudu on national highway No. 18 at Pedda Bodhanam in Chagalamarri mandal in Kurnool district early on Monday morning.

Five died on the spot and two others, including the driver, succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the Government hospital at Allagadda.

Four of the deceased were identified as Shekhar Dhawan, Nagesh Karade, Chagar Balachoranal and Chiwari Akshay, ASP Sashi Kumar said.

Subbarayudu’s family members Surendra, Nagendra and Balanagamma were seriously injured and were rushed to Nandyal hospital. The house was partly damaged due to the impact of the mishap.
