Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) deputy floor leader in Assembly T. Harish Rao has alleged that ‘Andhra parties’ joined hands to prevent the formation of separate Telangana State.

He was speaking to the media after being shifted by the police following his arrest at Siddipet for trying to obstruct YSRC honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma’s tour to Sircilla. Mr. Harish Rao said that the TDP, Congress and YSRC are coming together to obstruct formation of Telangana. “The police provided huge security for Ms. Vijayamma whereas they arrested the TRS activists who demanded the YSRC to clarify its stand on Telangana,” he said alleging that the tour of Ms. Vijayamma had the tacit support of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Later in the evening, the statue of Telangana Thalli was cleaned with milk by Mr. Harish Rao.

MLAs detained

Adilabad Staff Reporter adds: TRS legislator from Chennur Nallala Odelu and over 100 party cadres and other Telangana protagonists were detained by the Adilabad police on Monday preventing them from proceeding towards Sircilla in Karimnagar district. While the MLA was detained at his residence at Mandamarri, the activists were picked up at many centres including Mancherial and Mandamarri.

Nizamabad Staff Reporter adds: Police arrested Kamareddi MLA Gampa Govardhan (TRS) and his party activists at Biknoor when he staged a dharna on National Highway-44 protesting against the visit of Ms. Vijayamma to Siricilla.

Later they were released on the execution of personal bond.

The T-JAC activists held protest demonstrations against what they called the “invasion” of Vijayamma and her party activists from Rajayalaseema on Telangana, at Machareddi mandal headquarters.

Warangal Staff Reporter adds: Scores of youth were taken into preventive custody and many from Warangal were injured in Sircilla while trying to block the tour of Ms. Vijayamma.

MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar and party convenor P. Sudarshan Reddy condemned the forceful entry into the Telangana Bhavan by the police. They described it as an attack on ‘self-respect’ of the people.

The TRS leaders alleged that the YSRC and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy colluded in conducting the police raid on Telangana Bhavan. Both the Congress and YSR Congress will pay a heavy price for their act, the leaders stated.

They said the tour of Vijayamma was aimed at belittling the ongoing separate Telangana movement.

“Despite facing the cruel suppression by the police and the YSR Congress goondas, about 1,000 the youth from the district bravely upheld the self-respect of the people from the region,” the TRS leaders said.

The party leaders appealed to the activists to make the ‘educational institutions bandh’ a grand success on Tuesday protesting the attacks and arrest of TRS workers and Telangana activists in the wake of Siricilla incident.

Meanwhile, the police arrested several TRS workers at Komuravelli village in Cheriyal mandal in the district. One activist Bhaskar climbed overhead water tank and threatened to commit suicide protesting against Vijayamma’s tour.

TRSV dharna

Nalgonda Correspondent adds: Activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti youth wing, TRSV, took out a rally from VT Colony to Clock Tower and staged a ‘rasta roko’ to protest the lathicharge in Telangana Bhavan, Hyderabad, arrest of students and the fast taken up by Vijayamma at Sircilla.

Led by B. Nagarjuna, the students raised slogans condemning the lathicharge. He demanded immediate release of the arrested students.
