Revenue Minister and Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy on Tuesday directed the Sub-Collector of Rajamahendravaram to settle the land issue for establishing a Science City in the cultural capital of the state. He also said the state cabinet would discuss introducing horticulture as a subject in universities.
Addressing press conference on Tuesday after reviewing Rajamahendravaram Parliamentary constituency development along with MP M. Muralimohan, MLA Akula Satyanarayana and officials, he said that he was going to discuss with the Chief Minister the sanctioning of houses for the poor in rural and urban areas. Thousands of applications, received during weekly grievance meetings, were pending in collectorates.
He said that there were proposals to set up a school of drama and a stadium from MLAs of Rajamahendravaram and he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister immediately.
Replying to a question, he said that MLAs were against giving permissions to factories that would let out effluents. This would be discussed and the Chief Minister only had to ratify the proposals. He said they had released 1.60 lakh gas connections to the district and asked officials to intensify the works under the Neeru-Chettu programme.
