Colleges served show-cause notices, fine imposed

State Information Commissioner L. Tantiya Kumari on Tuesday issued show-cause notices on the information officers of 10 colleges in East Godavari district for not furnishing information sought under the RTI Act.

Ms. Tantiya Kumari, who conducted hearings on the show-cause notices already served on the information Officers, imposed a penalty of Rs.25,000 on the information officer of Mandapeta Junior College. A penalty of Rs.15,000 was imposed on the information officer of Ideal College of Kakinada for not attending the enquiry session and not furnishing information to the RTI Commissioner. Ms. Tantia Kumari also issued notices to several other colleges for not furnishing details to the RTI appellants.
