Autonomy sought for Rayalaseema, N. Andhra

May 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - KADAPA:

Grant of special status will not help plug the loss to Andhra Pradesh, but a demand for autonomy to backward areas such as Rayalaseema and North Coastal Andhra will trigger their development, Visalandhra Mahasabha president N. Chakravarthi said on Saturday.

Rayalaseema would develop if it was provided water, industries and basic amenities, but it would be a far cry in the State’s deficit budget, he said in a round table conference at C.R. Brown library here.

Rayalaseema was not benefiting in the new State and the government should take steps to augment irrigation water and industries, People Against Corruption founder Maramreddy Srikanth Reddy said.
