Robbery on Seshadri Express near Manubolu in Nellore Dt.

Three unidentified assailants robbed a woman of a 16gram gold chain when she was travelling in the S2 coach of the Seshadri Express near Manubolu railway station here between 2.30 a.m. and 3.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

As the train came to a halt awaiting signal, the miscreants entered the coach and snatched the gold ornaments. They were stated to have shouted and threatened the passengers if they gave any resistance.

The robbers finished their work and left the scene before the train resumed its onward journey. The woman passenger gave her complaint to the travel ticket examiner (TTE) on board the train.

Unconfirmed reports said that another woman was also relieved of 20grams gold ornaments in the S8 coach. But a formal complaint was not yet received by the railway authorities in this respect.

M. Ravisankar, railway CI, said that there was information available on the movement of some unidentified youngsters on motor cycles in the vicinity of the Manubolu railway station at around 1 a.m. “Further information has to be collected on these youths. Apart from this, it has to be checked whether the regular robber gangs are involved in this,” he added.
