October 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - CHITTOOR:

The Task Force police on Wednesday seized 15 red sanders logs worth over Rs. 50 lakh at Bhimavaram forest beat of Bharakapeta range of Seshachalam hills.

DSP (Task Force) S.V. Sridhar said that while the combing party was searching for dumps, it detected the movement of hired woodcutters and smugglers deep inside. However, on spotting the combing party, the trespassers fled into the thickets, leaving behind the logs, after pelting stones at the personnel.

He said no arrests were made. However, unconfirmed reports said that as many as 15 woodcutters from TN were nabbed and five SUVs confiscated elsewhere in the Bhakarapeta section.
