GVMC elections

The elections to the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation are long overdue.

An elected body is essential for making Visakhapatnam a smart city.

The government should take steps to resolve all the issues coming in the way of conduct of elections.

Special status

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who participated in the traditional Hindu rituals at the foundation ceremony for the new capital, avoided announcing the special status for the State.

By asserting that his government was committed to fulfil the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 he skirted the issue of special status which was announced on the Floor of the House by his predecessor.

Without special status and special packages from time to time, AP would struggle financially.

Register protest on

social media

All political parties should shun staging dharnas, burning effigies and such public agitation and instead register their protest on the social media.

Voters should also form into clubs and take an oath not to vote for political parties indulging in agitations like dharnas and bandhs.
