Strike the last resort
Strike is always the last resort of employees to resolve pending issues.
They have to give a notice which clearly states the date from which they would be striking work. If the government or the management really has public interest at heart it would take steps to resolve the issues and avert the strike.
The government is not in favour of hiking salaries despite increase in prices of all essentials and services.
The legislators, who set aside political differences and vote together for hike in their pay and perks, do not show the same interest when it comes to pay hike of workers and employees.

Theft cases on rise
There have been a number of theft cases in Vudanagar Phase 1 Colony of Kurmannapalem in the last one month. The victims have lodged complaints with the Duvvada police station. The residents are afraid of leaving their homes in the night as the colony is isolated and there have been no streetlights in the park and some of the areas for six months. The residents request the police to arrange a police outpost in the locality to give confidence to the residents.

VUDA needs revamp
The inability of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority to complete in time a relatively small project like row houses in Rushikonda raises doubts over its capability to conceptualise and execute the smart city tasks. There is a need to revamp VUDA to be able to take quick decisions and implement projects speedily.

Land pooling
The Leftists, who are opposing tooth and nail the proposal of the Centre to bring in changes in land acquisition laws, are silent on the land pooling system of the State government. The move of the Chandrababu Naidu government to acquire 33,000 acres of fertile land to build the State capital is less beneficial to farmers.

‘Achche din’ a mirage
The ‘Acchhe din’ of Modi government has become a mirage.
The prices of food and essential commodities are skyrocketing. The cost of medicare is growing unchecked.
The poll promises have been long forgotten. A slew of measures announced by the government are not percolating to the common man.
Even Indian Railways, under the garb of Premium Tatkal, has been fleecing the travellers taking undue advantage of a person’s emergency and helplessness. The labour laws have been liberalised to the dictates of foreign investors.
