Rare honour for classmate elates District Collector

It was a proud moment for District Collector I. Samuel Ananda Kumar, when his classmate at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Abhijit Banerjee, has won the Nobel Peace Prize for Economics for the year 2019.

Recollecting the fond memories he had with Dr. Banerjee, Mr. Samuel said that he met Dr. Banerjee in 1981 at Jawaharlal Nehru University and both of them studied MA (economics).

He along with Markfed General Manager M.S. Prasad, noted auditor, United States, Wilson, were classmates during the year 1981-82.

“Dr. Banerjee used to be a topper in the studies always. His parents were professors in university and Dr. Banerjee later left for Harvard University, United States of America, to continue his studies. I congratulate Dr. Banerjee for winning the Nobel Prize in Economics,” said Mr. Samuel Ananda Kumar.
