Rajendranath Reddy assumes charge as new DGP of Andhra Pradesh

K.V. Rajendranath Reddy, a 1992-batch IPS officer, assumed office as Director-General of Police (DGP), Head of Police Force (HoPF), at the Andhra Pradesh Police Headquarters, at Mangalagiri, near here, on Saturday.

Mr. Reddy took charge from D. Gautam Sawang, who has been appointed as Chairman, Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).

Mr. Reddy had served in different capacities in United Andhra Pradesh, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Hyderabad, Superintendent of Police, Nellore, Commissioner of Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada Commissionerates, DGP (Intelligence) and other positions.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP thanked Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving him the opportunity as DGP-HoPF, and said that he would work to the expectations of the government as well as the public.

Priority would be given for doing justice to the needy, particularly the weaker sections and women, and steps would be taken to control eve-teasing, crime against women and rowdyism, Mr. Reddy said.

Mr. Sawang said that Andhra Pradesh police made rapid strides in the last three years, stood top in various areas and had won more than 150 awards at the national level.

Additional Director-General (Law and Order) Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, IGPs, DIGs, and SPs of various districts met the new DGP.
