APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy on Sunday took an oath not to return to his hometown, Neelakanthapuram, in the district if Rahul Gandhi does not sign on the file sanctioning the Special Category Status (SCS) after becoming the Prime Minister.

Participating in the unveiling of statues of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi here by former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Mr. Reddy said implementation of the provisions of the Reorganisation Act would be given top priority by the UPA.

The statues were desecrated by people during the Samaikhyandhra movement.

While Indira Gandhi had worked towards green revolution and ensured food production improved, Rajiv Gandhi laid the path for technological developments. Mr. Rahul Gandhi had announced signing on the SCS file as soon he becomes Prime Minister, Mr. Reddy pointed out.

Former Minister S. Sailajanath said people need to bring Congress back to power and make Mr. Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister for real development. DCC president Kota Satyam, secretary Dada Gandhi, former Karnataka Minister Revanna and others participated.
