Andhra Pradesh State Chapter of Indian Radiological Imaging Association (APIRIA) will promote study and practice of diagnostic radiological and imaging modalities including x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI and molecular imaging by periodical scientific sessions, workshops and seminars, said Dr. G. Mohan Prasad, after being elected as president of the association in the annual general meeting here on Sunday.

Speaking to the media persons, he said the AP Chapter, which was inaugurated in 2015 after the State’s bifurcation, has taken up several projects both academically and socially. “We want to do away with the female foeticide under our ‘Save Girl Child’ project by asking members to stay away from providing unauthorised training in ultrasound.”

The senior radiologist said the association will enforce the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT ) Act, strictly.

He said that the chapter would give scholarships to the girls.

Dr. Prasad said that career awareness and screening programmes will be organised especially for breast cancer by mammography screening.
