‘Ensuring proper health during pregnancy period is a must’

Vizianagaram MLA Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy on Friday asked the officials of ICDS and Child Welfare Departments to give wide publicity about the 1,000-day health care plan designed by the government for pregnant women.

He said that proper health during pregnancy and the next two years after delivery was a must as per the guidelines of the World Health Organisation.

The government, in association with World Vision and other NGOs, organised awareness programme on nutritious food for infants.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Veerabhadra Swamy said that health workers would play a vital role in explaining government schemes to people.Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights member Kesali Apparao said that immunity would improve among children when proper care was taken at an early age.

ICDS Assistant Director M. Rajeswari, Municipal Assistant Commissioner Kanakamahalakshmi and World Vision Manager P. Shyam Babu were present.
