Assets worth ₹12 crore unearthed in raids across State

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths raided the premises of Pamu Panduranga Rao, Engineer-in-chief of Public Health and Municipal Engineering, on Friday and unearthed assets worth ₹12 crore.

The raids was conducted simultaneously at his residence in Tadepalli mandal of Guntur district and fourteen other places in Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Hyderabad districts. The assets include seven plots in and around Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad cities, three houses, agricultural lands of 6.50 acres in Krishna district, all in his name. The properties registered in the name of wife Pamu Rajya Laxmi included 35 residential plots and 21 agricultural lands besides ₹10 lakh in cash, ₹1.95 lakh in US Dollars, ₹25 lakh in bank balance, one kg gold and nine kg silver.

A native of Kotcherla in Kalidindi mandal of Krishna district, he joined the government service in 1987 as Deputy Executive Engineer and worked in various cadres like Chief Engineer of Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Dr. Rao was arrested and produced in court.

Giving details of the raid to the media here on Friday, ACB Director-General of Police R.P. Thakur warned corrupt government employees of stern action.
