more-in

The State Government has decided to change the location of the proposed Secretariat from Amaravati township to a site identified at Velagapudi and Malkapuram villages.

The government had earlier approved construction of office space of 6 lakh sq. ft. in 20 acres of land for the Secretariat to accommodate different departments. Tenders were accordingly invited for the works with an estimated Rs.180 crore and the government had set a deadline of June 30 for the completion of the works.

The government had also announced its intention to provide incentives to the selected bidder if the works were completed ahead of the deadline.

The Infrastructure and Investments wing had accordingly been authorised to invite tenders for both conventional and pre-fabricated systems, while the government had agreed to sanction Rs. 90 crore interest-free loan to the Capital Region Development Authority for taking up the works.

The CRDA was asked to mobilise the balance funds as loan from the HUDCO under normal terms and conditions.

The departments that would be provided the office space in the proposed site had been directed to pay the monthly lease rentals from their budgetary grants to the CRDA.
