Prasannakumar ‘quits’ YSR Congress

June 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - NELLORE:

The YSR Congress leadership in the district caught unawares on Wednesday amid reports doing the rounds that the party district unit president Nallapureddy Prasannakumar Reddy had faxed his resignation letter to the party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Mr. Prasannakumar Reddy was stated to have cited personal reasons for his resignation, though his followers said that he was unhappy over the fact that other leaders, including Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, were ignoring him when it came to the party affairs.

When contacted, Mr. Prasannakumar Reddy refused to comment on the reports about his resignation. On his part, the MP said that he had no information about to whom the resignation letter was sent. He also denied of having any political differences with Mr. Prasannakumar Reddy.

Party sources said differences cropped up when Mr. Prasannakumar was made the party district president after removing M. Murali who was stated to have been a close follower of the Nellore MP.
