Prasad Reddy takes charge as AU V-C

He alleges that varsity funds diverted to ‘Pasupu Kumkuma’

The new Vice-Chancellor (Additional Charge) of Andhra University, Prof. P.V.G.D. Prasad Reddy, alleged that funds which were supposed to be received by the varsity were diverted to ‘Pasupu Kumkuma’ programme, by the then government and added that he would strive to get back these funds. He was addressing newsmen after taking charge at the varsity campus, here on Friday.

Mr. Reddy said that shortage of faculty is not the main problem in the university, but lack of funds, is an issue.

Mr. Prasad Reddy said that a service centre would be opened to resolve issues of students soon. He also added that he has a plan on how to develop the university in the next 10 years, which would be announced soon. He said there would be focus on campus placements, providing education which inculcates discipline among students and skill development.

The V-C said that the varsity would work for development of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. He said that AU has been working over several issues like chronic kidney disorders in Uddanam and pollution in Visakhapatnam.
