The government is contemplating supply of power for agriculture in two spells from January onwards, Minister for Medical and Health D.L. Ravindra Reddy said on Friday.
Speaking at the Rachabanda II programme on Duvvur MPDO office premises in Mydukur constituency, he stressed the need for steps to ensure that the fruits of welfare schemes reached the poorer sections.
The Central and State governments were implementing welfare schemes for the deprived sections of people, he said and called for efforts to reduce women and child mortality rate. In all, 1,693 beneficiaries were granted ration coupons, Indiramma houses and pensions in Duvvur mandal, Dr. Ravindra Reddy said.
Additional DMHO Penchalaiah said adequate medicines were available in all primary health centres in the district. Proddatur Divisional Forest Officer Jayachandra Reddy, Duvvur Mandal Education Officer Subba Reddy and others participated.
Classroom opened
Dr. Reddy inaugurated an additional classroom built at a cost of Rs. 8 lakh in the mandal parishad primary school in Moddindlapalle village in Duvvur mandal, by unveiling a plaque.
He said the government was spending hundreds of crores of rupees on education sector and told teachers and parents to strive for hundred per cent pass percentage. MLC Batchala Pullaiah said school children should be developed as good future citizens.
Rajiv Vidya Mission Project Officer A. Suryanarayana Reddy, former ZPTC member Babu, school headmaster Venkateswara Rao, teachers and students participated.
