Centres to come in three more districts soon

People of the two Godavari districts should use the services of newly inaugurated Post office Passport Seva Kendra in Rajamahendravaram, said MP M. Muralimohan.

Inaugurating the Passport office here on Saturday, he said that the citizens of the Godavari districts need not go to Visakhapatnam for getting a new passport or for renewal, from now on. He said this office would be more useful to the youth wanting to go abroad for studies and jobs, as they would get their passports in a short time through Tatkal system.

NLP Chowdary, Regional Passport Officer, said that the Rajamahendravaram Post office Passport Seva Kendra is 165th facility in the country and that three more centres in Kakinada, Srikakulam and Anantapur have been proposed for the second phase. He said, in the first phase, centres were opened in Kurnool, Kadapa, Nellore and Chittoor. He added that in the beginning there would be 50 slots per day which would later be increased to 100 slots.

Chief Post Master General K. Balasubrahmanian said that the postal department was invited by Ministry of External Affairs to start Passport Seva Kendras throughout the country and in accordance with that they have started this service after successfully taken up Aadhar enrollment service.

Akula Satyanarayana, MLA, Rajamahendravaram City, Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, MLC Adireddy Apparao, Mayor P. Rajani Sesha Sai and GUDA Chairman Ganni Krishna and others were present.
