Indian People’s Art Theatre Association (IPTA) national general secretary Rakesh lashed out at the Centre for inclining towards foreign imperialism by demolishing the roots of Indian culture and traditions in the name of religion.
He delivered inaugural address at the ninth State conference of Praja Natyamandali in Rajahmundry on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rakesh observed that the poor and middle class people are struggling due to the misrule of the Central government and lamented that poor is becoming poorer and rich are becoming richer due to the policies of the government. Stressing the need for more agitations from the people against the policies of the Centre and called upon the people’s artistes to motivate the people towards campaigning.
IPTA Vice-president Kandimalla Pratapa Reddy recalled that the association which was established in 1943 staged protests against the fascism of Adolf Hitler through songs and playletsSpeaking on the occasion,
Rajahmundry MP M. Muralimohan recalled that many film artistes have emerged from Praja Natyamandali and lauded the organisation by terming it as the only organisation which was motivating the people through art.
He assured that the government would take steps to support the artistes.
Rajahmundry Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai has expressed happiness over conducting the conference before the Godavari Pushkarams.
