Politics can't be a fulltime occupation: JP

April 30, 2012 12:15 pm | Updated 12:15 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan has said that people must not take to politics as a fulltime occupation to earn money though it was necessary that every individual took active part in politics.

People must pursue their own occupations to keep life going besides participating in politics, he said delivering a lecture on ‘Political leadership' to mark the ninth death anniversary of freedom fighter and ex-legislator Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah here on Sunday. He said violence was not the solution to problems in society either on moral or philosophical plains.

On the other extreme, dictatorial politics witnessed in Germany during Hitler's regime was also not good. Politics in the service of society was the real solution. Dr. Narayan compared the fight against social problems to the health hazards from mosquito breeding in the neighbourhood. If the mosquito in the environs was not eliminated, it will enter the house anytime.
