VIZIANAGARAM: While directing police personnel to take all measures to check accidents on roads in the district, Superintendent of Police L.K.V. Ranga Rao announced at the month-end crime review meeting on Wednesday that he would be adopting Denkada, Bhogapuram and Poosapatirega mandals.

Taking a cue from him, C.H. Venkata Appala Naidu, OSD, adopted Vizianagaram Urban and Rural areas; Vizianagaram DSP (Town) A.V. Ramana the Nellimarla mandal, and Bobbili DSP Sowmyalatha the Bobbili and Bondapalli mandals. The top police brass would pay special attention to avert accidents in their mandals, the SP said.

Mr. Ranga Rao said that keeping in view the impending ‘Sivarathri’ on February 24 and Group II screening test at 79 centres in the district on February 26, bandobust arrangements were being made at vulnerable points.

The SP asked officials to step up patrolling during night and checking vehicles to prevent housebreaking incidents and transport of narcotics. He asked them to take the assistance of ‘police mitra’ groups in rural police limits.

The meeting was also attended by Siddarth Koushal, Parvathipuram ASP, DSPs, Inspectors, and Sub-Inspectors from all police stations in the district.
